What we’re about
I’m Erin, founder of the Bushwick Trash Lady. I started this initiative shortly after moving to Bushwick, inspired by a simple belief: a cleaner neighborhood means a healthier, more connected community.
New York City’s hygiene challenges don’t have to feel overwhelming—we can start making a difference right here at the community level. My goal is to offer practical, accessible services that help neighbors comply with the city’s new bagging rules, avoid costly fines, and ultimately enjoy streets that feel safe, welcoming, and clean.
Our first projects focus on small, impactful changes that add up:
Dog Waste Stations → Expanding to 100 stations across Bushwick to reduce sidewalk waste.
Public Trash Cans → Adding 100 new bins in high-traffic areas to reduce overflow and illegal dumping.
Adopting “No Man’s Lands” → Transforming neglected lots into maintained community spaces.
Weekly Cleanups → Equipping volunteers with brooms, dustpans, and rolling bins for visible impact.
Bushwick Trash Lady isn’t just about picking up trash—it’s about building pride, cooperation, and long-term solutions for a cleaner NYC, one block at a time.
